I’m not sure when they actually started it, but I noticed that the SM Mall’s Trace Together Online Contact Tracing System has started to become popular lately when the nearby SM Mall started requiring everybody to submit their Contact Details every time they enter there.
I found it to be more convenient than writing down your Contact Information on Pen and Paper, and it is required not only when entering the Mall but also the Shops and Restaurants inside.
- A functioning Smartphone
- A Quick Response (QR) Code Reader Application
- An Internet Connection
- A Web Browser
To use the System, you start with your QR Code Reader. I use the “QR & Barcode Scanner” made by Gamma Play, but you can use any QR Code Reader Application from the Google Play Store. I am using a Smartphone with an Android Operating System (OS) by the way, so I can only relay my experience using that.
To start, scan the QR Code posted at the Entrances of the Mall/Shop/Restaurants using the QR Code Reader.

If approved, you will then be brought to a Webpage showing some of the Details of your Contact Information and the Date and Time of Entry. Show this to the Guard or the Person manning the Entrance and it’s done.
