Here are what I think are the at least watchable to Best Series and Movies that I watched on Netflix for the Month of November 2024:
* Babylon (2024) Movie – Outstanding, as usual Netflix starts the Month strong with this excellent Movie. Too bad though that it didn’t perform well in the Box Office, and I can sort of understand that because the first half an hour of the Movie was somewhat chaotic, though it settled into a pretty good Film after that. It also is a pretty long Movie at over three hours long, it makes me wonder if it would’ve better if they made this into a Multi-Part, Limited Series on a Streaming Platform.
The Film is a Drama/Light Comedy about the early Days of Hollywood in the 1920s as the Movie Industry moved from making Silent Movies to ones with Sound, and it turned to be not as easy as it seemed, a lot of adjustments had to be made by everybody in the Industry. Just too bad that many of the Performers were not able to make the adjustment successfully. A Must-Watch for me, especially on a Streaming Platform where you can stop or pause the Movie whenever you want.
* Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson (2024) Season One Documentary Series – Outstanding, this Series is a Preview of the upcoming Boxing Bout between the young Social Media Influencer Jake Paul and the old Boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson that will be shown Live on Netflix. The Series covers a lot about the upcoming Fight, including the Background of both Fighters, how the Match was formulated, their current Preparations, etc. Serves as a great “Appetizer” to the actual Fight itself.
* Investigation Alien (2024) Documentary Series – Highly Recommended, starts off a bit slow, but makes up for it when it hits its Stride around the Middle of the Series. This is about the Journalist George Knapp doing what he does best, which is investigate and report about the Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) Phenomenon which is his Field of Specialty. Admittedly I almost didn’t finish this Series because I found the first couple of Episodes just a bit too bland and uninteresting, it was my deep Interest in the Topic that pulled me through, and I am glad that I did.
* Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson (2024) Live Sports Bout – Barely watchable, this is a Boxing Match between a young Social Media Influencer Jake Paul and the old Boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson. It was kind of disappointing because after all the Hype before the Fight, it was obvious after just the first Round that Tyson just didn’t have the Legs anymore to fight competitively anywhere. He was shuffling his Feet, his Footwork was sluggish, he just couldn’t launch into quick attacks forward anymore.
I think Paul could’ve easily knocked Tyson out if he wanted to, but he took the High Road and allowed Mike to finish the fight with some dignity left. Just like Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes, in the End Mike was willing to humiliate himself in the Ring just to get a Fat Paycheck, reportedly worth Usd 20 million.
* Cobra Kai (2024) Season Six, Final Season Part Two – Outstanding as usual, again I wanted to “savor” this Series and watch it sparingly, but I ended up watching it all within a single Day well into the Evening because it was just so good. This Season follows the “Miyagi” and “Cobra Kai” Dojos or Karate Schools compete into an International Karate Tournament called the “Sekai Taikai”, and you have the usual compelling Twists, excellent storytelling and fantastic Character Development that makes this Series just so damn good.
There are new, interesting Characters as well which just adds to myth of the Series. This is the second of three Parts of the last Season, and it is going out with a huge “Bang”, a lot of People are definitely going to miss it. Here’s hoping that the planned Spin Offs of this Series will indeed push thru, and that they will be at least as good as this one.
* Ready or Not (2019) Movie – Outstanding, this is a Suspense/Thriller/Black Comedy about a Woman who is marrying into a Family who is very rich, but with strange, occult Rituals, especially when accepting new Members into their Family. It is fast-paced, and some of the difficult Situations the Main Character played by Samara Weaving goes thru reminds me of the first “Die Hard” Movie. Lots of suspenseful Moments despite it only being an Hour and half long, this is one of the better Movies on Netflix for this Month of November, 2024.
* Pantheon (2022) Animated Series – Outstanding, easily one of the Best Series of this Year of 2024 that is shown on Netflix, if not one of the best ever shown on Netflix. This, of course, is not an original Content by Netflix but by AMC. This is a Science Fiction (SciFi) Thriller, or a Technological Thriller (Techothriller) about the uploading of Human Intelligence into the Machine World. This Topic has been tackled now many, many times, especially lately, but this one delves into it much deeper than anything I have seen or read.
It starts off a bit mediocre with Stuff I thought had already been done before, but comes into its own quickly, with some really nice Twists and Turns. My only hope is that it gets a wide enough Viewership on Netflix so it will be given at least another Season. Season Two is already finished and shown elsewhere, but not yet on Netflix. I hope it will be given at least a Third Season, this Season One is a Must-Watch for me.
* The Flash (2023) Movie – Outstanding, just another in the Line of Superhero Movies recently that were Review Bombed by Internet Troll Farms and didn’t do too well in the Box Office as a Result, but turned out to be pretty good. It starts out a bit slow, but starts to take off after about half an Hour into the Movie. And it doesn’t just take off slowly, it takes off like a Rocket, as if everything just suddenly falls into its proper Place. I think the Movie was intentionally reviewed badly because of its “Woke” Latina Supergirl Character in Sasha Calle, and the off Scene Controversies that the Actor Ezra Miller was involved in off-Screen.
But the Movie was Fast-Paced with a nice, well thought-out Plot, pretty good Character Development and some excellent Twists and Turns. I think the Producers took a chance in releasing this Movie despite the Issues, hoping that its Quality will still pull the Film thru, but unfortunately it didn’t. But now that its on Streaming, I hope it will finally be redeemed by the Audience. A Must-Watch Movie for me.
* M3GAN (2022) Movie – Good enough to watch, while recent Superhero Movies like “The Flash” were Review Bombed by Internet Troll Farms, this is its opposite in that it got a lot of Hype, but just wasn’t as good as it was touted to be when I finally saw it. This is a Horror Thriller about a Robot Doll with Artificial Intelligence (AI) who ended up a bit too overprotective and obsessed with the Child to whom it was given to. The Plot was derivative and predictable, there’s not much that wouldn’t remind you of other similar Movies that have been released before, like “Chuckie”, for example. It is fast-paced and watchable enough, but again, just not as good as all that Hype in the Internet.
* A Man on the Inside (2024) Season One Series – Outstanding, from the Creative Team of “The Good Place” Series comes another excellent Drama/Comedy Series, one of the Best new Series on Netflix for this Year of 2024. It is about a retired Professor who was hired by a Private Detective Agency to infiltrate a High-End Retirement Home to investigate and solve a couple of Theft Crimes. It is fast-paced, very funny in some Spots and with some nice Twists also.
Aside from the Detective/Mystery Part, the Series also tackles some of the Issues related to Aging with Dignity and Respect. The best Thing about this Series though are the Characters which most of whom were developed very well, making them easy to empathize or relate with. Also nice to see Stephanie Beatriz play a more conventional Character than the stoic “Rosa Diaz” she portrayed on the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Series. Also nice to see some of the Cast from “The Good Place” make some Appearances on this one.
