Best Series and Movies on Netflix - December 2024

Here are what I think are the at least watchable to Best Series and Movies that I watched on Netflix for the Month of December 2024:

* Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain (2024) Animated Movie – Good enough to watch, this is a pretty ambitious Suspense/Supernatural Thriller set in Feudal Japan that follows the entry of two Girls into the Emperor’s Harem where they eventually encounter a Supernatural Force hiding a Dark Secret. The Characterizations and Dialogue are pretty good, and the Visuals are beautiful.

However, the unique Visual Style also makes it difficult to follow the Story in some Parts, and the Plot seem just a bit too convoluted at times, with some Plot Holes about the Nature of some of the Characters. I think this Movie was just a bit too ambitious, but unable to deliver a Story that is easy to follow and appreciate. It is good enough to watch, but definitely not a great Movie for me.

* The Madness (2024) Limited Series – Good enough to Watch, this is a relatively decent Thriller set in Contemporary Times about a Man who witnessed a Murder, and then was subsequently framed for it which eventually led him to uncover a Nationwide Conspiracy involving White Supremacist Groups. It is a bit slow in some Spots, but has enough Twists to make it interesting enough to watch.

* Churchill at War (2024) Limited Documentary Series – Outstanding,

* Carry-On (2024) Movie – Outstanding, worth all the Hype it received. This is an Action and Psychological Thriller set in Contemporary Times about an Airport Security Employee who was blackmailed into letting a particular Package go thru his X-Ray Machine without being stopped. Lots of nice Twists and some decent Action Scenes. Jason Bateman was excellent as the main Villain constantly verbally bullying Taron Egerton into Submission, while Taron was outstanding playing just an ordinary Employee trying to make it thru another Day. One of Netflix’s best Movies this Year of 2024.

* Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) Movie – Outstanding, I saw this Movie in the Theaters, but like always watching it on Streaming on my own Television (TV) is much better, the Scenes are clearer, the sound better and I can watch it at my Leisure. This is a Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) Action Thriller set in Contemporary Times about a Humanoid Robot sent back in time to kill the Leader of the Resistance Movement of the Humans in the Future.

The Movie does capture very much the Essence of the almost non-Stop and intense Action of the first two Terminator Films, with a number of added Twists of its own. Too bad though that the Movie was Review bombed, mainly because I think it was just too “Woke”, with two of its main Characters being of Latin Descent and a good Part of the Movie was filmed in Mexico. Nevertheless, an outstanding addition to Netflix’s Catalog of Movies for now, and a Must-Watch.

* Uzumaki (2024) Animated Series – Outstanding, but not for everyone. This is a Psychological Horror Animated Series set in what I assume to be Contemporary Times about a Town in Japan where strange, weird and supernatural Events started occurring and revolving around the Concept of Spirals. The Animation is beautiful, but it is in Black and White which only adds up to its “Weirdness” Vibe.

This is probably as close as one can get to watching a living Nightmare as People started transforming into Things like a Snail, and even ended up being fused together. The Ending does a pretty decent Job of explaining what the Cause of the Events was all about. One of the Best Series with a pretty original Concept you can watch on Netflix right now, but again, not for the Faint-hearted ...

* Squid Game (2024) Season Two Series – Outstanding, a very worthy follow on to the first Season. For those not familiar with this Series, this is mainly a Suspense Thriller about a Game where People get to play Children’s Games for a lot of Money, but could lose their Life if they lose. Not as good as the first, of course, but good enough in Terms of Story Progression and having worthy Highlights of its own. Some of the Games were the older ones with new Twists on them, but there are some new Games as well which are just as good as the previous ones.

The Character Development was fantastic, really good that made them pretty interesting enough for you to care for what happens to them in the Games. A lot of new Characters as expected, and the some of the old Characters from the first Season were given expanded Roles. There are some slow Spots though, especially in the first couple of Episodes, but once it gets going, it doesn’t stop. A Must See for me, delivers as hoped for, and one of Netflix’s best Series of this Year of 2024.
