Here are what I think are the at least watchable to Best Series and Movies that I watched on Netflix for the Month of June 2025:

* TUDUM (2025) Live Event – Outstanding, this is Netflix’s annual Show where they Hype up and provide Sneak Peeks into their upcoming, originally-produced Series and Movies, usually the ones with the highest Budgets. This is a Must-Watch for me as it gives you an Idea to what to look for and what to expect in the next twelve Months. They’ve changed its Format over the Years, this Year it is only a single, two-hour long Show. Most of the Segments were great, but I admit skipping some Parts of it that I didn’t find interesting enough, and I suggest you do the same also.

I particularly liked the Segments of the upcoming “Knives Out” Movie, “Happy Gilmore 2” Movie, “Stranger Things” Series, “Squid Game” Series, “Frankenstein” Movie and most of the Segments of the “Wednesday” Series. I’m disappointed though that the Teaser for “The Rip” Movie was available only during the Live Broadcast and not the Replay because I only got to watch the Replay.

* Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Part One (2023) Movie – Outstanding, to those who are not familiar with the “Mission Impossible” Franchise, it is a long running Spy-Action-Thriller Franchise of Series and Movies about a Secret Organization hired by the United States (US) Government to do its hardest, or “Impossible” Assignments. The Movie Franchise starring Tom Cruise started in 1996, so it has been running for more than two Decades now consisting of seven Movies as of this Movie.

One main Reason why it has been going for so long for me is because the Stunts, Thrills, Twists and Glamour has been very effective in making very entertaining Movies to watch. The Exotic, Foreign Locations also help a lot, as does the Big Budget which allows for very nice Sets and almost outrageous Stunts. The Formula continues in what is supposed to be this second to the Last Movie of this Franchise. The Plot this time though reminds me a bit of that Series, “Person of Interest” since it involves an Artificial Intelligence (AI), but this one is an “Evil” Version of it.

* Titan: The Oceangate Submersible Disaster (2025) Documentary Movie – Outstanding, this is about the Tourist Submarine Disaster that killed five People that happened back in 2023 on its Way down to the sunken Remains of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. The Documentary focused on the Founder of the Submarine Company, Stockton Rush, the Company itself, “OceanGate Incorporated” and the Submarine called “Titan”. The interviewed the People who worked on them, and the subsequent Investigations that followed. The Sub itself was doomed right from the Start, with its Design already failing during Scale Model Testing, and yet Rush still insisted on pushing through in his Dream of becoming the next Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos of the Ocean. A great Documentary, as usual, it is one of Netflix’s Main Strengths.

* Our Times (2025) Movie – Outstanding, this is a Mexican Production, a Science Fiction (SciFi) Drama about a Scientist Couple who in the 1960s found a Way to Travel in Time. It is a Time Travel Movie that focused more on the Social Implications of putting People from one Time Period into a new one, and it also focused more on the Love Story of the Couple. It has some nice, interesting and very smart Twists to it also, especially in the End. The relatively short Running Time of around one and half hours ensured a relatively fast and decent Pacing. I also liked the Production Values of this Movie, along with the Camera Work, those are easily at par with any major Hollywood Movie out there. A Great Movie, one of the Best I have seen so far this Year of 2025, I hope that it will find more success in Terms of Viewership at Netflix.

* Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy (2025) Documentary Movie – Highly recommended, this is another Installment in the relatively new “Trainwreck” Documentary Series started by Netflix regarding Scandals or Tragedies that happened in the Entertainment Industry and Politics. This particular Documentary covered the Tragedy that happened during one of the Rapper Travis Scott’s Concerts several Years ago in Houston, Texas where many People died. It just seemed like very Poor Planning and Management by the “Live Nation” Group which organized the Concert.

The Venue wasn’t big enough for the Number of People that attended it, there was poor Crowd Control and Crowd Management, and all these were worsened by the High Energy Nature of Scott’s Concerts. It is heartbreaking to see so many Young People die even when they just wanted to have fun and enjoy themselves, and just as bad to see Live Nation settling all of the Lawsuits against them Out of Court and thus escaping severe Consequences. A pretty good Documentary on watch on Netflix.

* Trainwreck: Mayor of Mayhem (2025) Documentary Movie – Highly Recommended, this is the next Installment of Netfix’s new Series called “Trainwreck” which deals with Scandals and Tragedies in the Entertainment World and Politics, this one deals with the Populist Politician Rob Ford who became the Mayor of Toronto, Canada around a Decade ago. The Man clearly had a serious Drinking Problem, resulting in him being involved in several Scandals including Drug Use.

The Documentary did a good Job of presenting both Sides of the Story of those Against and For him, but I felt they left out the “Why” the People of Toronto still loved him despite all the Issues he got involved in. I think he was a pretty effective Mayor in spite of his Problems, that Part I wanted to see more of.

* Ip Man (2008) Movie – Highly Recommended, after watching some Clips on YouTube from the “Ip Man” Series of Films, I decided to check it out on Netflix, and fortunately they have some of its Movies. I watched this first one mainly for its Martial Arts Fight Scenes, but surprisingly it also has good Story lines to set up those Fights. This about the Life an Expert on the Wing Chun Style of Kung Fu during his Days in Fo Shan, China in the 1930s, and the subsequent occupation of Japanese Forces of that City.

There is no English Audio, so I watched this in its original Cantonese Dubbing with English Subtitles. The Fight Scenes are numerous and outstanding, and I am glad that they introduced a bit of Humor into the Movie every now and then. This Film became one of the most Popular Kung Fu Movies of recent times and eventually became a Franchise consisting of four Films. Unfortunately though, to date Netflix only has two of those four Films, and I intend to watch the other Film also, which is the direct Sequel, “Ip Man 2”.

* Ip Man 2 (2010) Movie – Highly recommended, this Movie is based on the Life of an Expert in the Wing Chun Style of Kung Fu who eventually became Bruce Lee’s Teacher as he moved from Fo Shan to in Hong Kong in China I think in the 1950s, dealing with the local rival Kung Fu Clubs there and a new Colonizer, the British. The Movie follows the highly effective Formula of the first Film in that it has pretty good Story lines to set up the Fight Sequences, which has made it one of the most Popular Kung Fu Films of recent times. Unfortunately this is the last of the Ip Man Movie Franchise being shown on Netflix for now, hopefully they will eventually get the last two Films also soon.

* The Watefront (2025) Season One Series – Outstanding, the General Theme of this Series is basically the same as that of the “Ozark” Series, in fact if you’ve seen that Show, you will likely be reminded a Lot of it when you watch this one. The Theme is that of a Legitimate Family Business being forced to enter the Illegal Drugs Trade due to Financial Difficulties, and ended up facing various Complications due to the Violent Nature of the Business. The Characters are very interesting, as are the Dialogue and Plot Twists, and they really followed Netflix’s Suggestion of putting a Cliff Hanger at the End of almost all Episodes.

Melissa Benoist gets to play as a “Bad” Girl in this Series as opposed to her mainly Wholesome Character in the “Supergirl” Series. Great to see 1990s Icon Maria Bello back on a Major Role, and the casting of the Charismatic Topher Grace was excellent so he could balance out and go Toe to Toe with the Steely Holt McCallany. The Showrunner of this Series, Kevin Williamson was involved in past Hit Movies and Series like the “Scream” Movie Franchise, the “Dawson’s Creek” Series and “The Vampire Diaries” Series, so no wonder this one turned out so well.

* Trainwreck: Poop Cruise (2025) Documentary Movie – Outstanding, another great Installment in the new “Trainwreck” Series which covers Scandals and Tragedies in the Entertainment World, Leisure and Politics, this one about a Luxury Cruise almost a Decade ago which went from Texas in the United States (US) and Mexico. During the last Day of the Cruise, the Ship lost Power due to a Fire, which ended up disabling the Sewage System also. It took Days for the Ship to be towed back to Port, and naturally before that happened the Sewage started overflowing. Not if you are squeamish as some of the Descriptions by the Guests of what happened ended up quite disgusting. Still an entertaining watch for those who can handle the Nature of the “Disaster”, it is fast-paced, great Storytelling and as told by the People who were really there.

* The Crow (2024) Movie – Good enough to watch, this is a Supernatural Thriller about a Man who came back from the Dead as an unkillable Superhero to avenge his Death and that of his Girlfriend. This is based on a Comicbook Series, and it does stay true to that Series with its Gothic Theme and sometimes surreal Visuals. The Movie though is just sort of Mediocre and its Storytelling predictable, nothing memorable to distinguish or make it stand out from other Superhero Movies that are our there.

My Hats off though to Bill Skarsgard who plays the Lead Role, the last time I saw him was on “John Wick: Chapter Four” where he played a very intimidating and very aristocratic main Villain. Here he shows his range as he plays more of a laid back, shy and unassuming Person who was just forced into being a Supernatural Superhero.

* Squid Game (2025) Season Three, Final Season Series – Outstanding, a fitting end to not only one of Netflix’s “Crown Jewels”, but also a Worldwide Hit and a Cultural Phenomenon. To those who happen to be still not familiar with this Series, it is about a Man who now has set out to stop an Organization who recruit People who are in Debt or down on their Luck to play Children’s Games and win large amounts of Money if they win, but also punishes them with Death if they lose.

This Series is a South Korean Production, and for this particular Season it is filled with emotional manipulation and Trauma not only to the Actors and Actresses in the Series, but likely extend also to the Viewers who will watch it. A Must-Watch, and very well lived up to the Expectations of it.
