Here are what I think are the at least watchable to Best Series and Movies that I watched on Netflix for the Month of October 2025:
* Blackberry (2023) Movie – Outstanding, this is a Biographical Drama Comedy about the Rise and Fall of the American Company, “Research in Motion (RIM)” whose most famous and successful Product was the “Blackberry” Phone in the 1990s and 2000s. Anybody who grew before and around that time knows how big the Company used to be, and this Movie gives a more complete Picture of what happened to it. It is a bit of a Tragedy to see how far they have fallen since then, but then again one could say they at least made it big. The Pacing, Storytelling, Characterizations all were very good, resulting in a very watchable Movie with excellent Portrayals by the main Actors. Another good start for the Month for Netflix, who seem to put some of the Best Movies they could get their Hands on at the beginning of each Month.
* The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) Movie – Good enough to Watch, this Movie was hyped a lot before its release, maybe because Keira Knightley starred in it, but ultimately it just didn’t live up to Expectations. This is a Murder Mystery Thriller set almost throughout the Movie onboard an expensive Yacht, and despite it only being one and a half hours long, the Pacing seemed still too slow as not much interesting was happening onscreen. Most of the Plot was sort of predictable, it just turned out to be a pretty mediocre Movie overall, good enough if nothing better is around.
* The Hunting Wives (2025) Season One Series – Outstanding, one of the Best, if not the Best Series this Month of October 2025 if nothing better comes along, and one of the Best Series of this Year of 2025. This is about a Woman who moved in with her Family to Texas, and then had to navigate her Way into her new Social Environment. It starts off mainly as a Sexy, Adult Soap Opera Series, but near the middle of the Season it becomes a Murder Mystery also, and it does all of that very, very well indeed.
The Characters are interesting and even Charismatic, and the Storytelling and Storylines are pretty good. Some nice Twists also here and there, I felt they handled the Murder Mystery Part exceptionally well as it left me guessing until the last Episode who really was the Killer, with some nice “Red Herrings” or False Leads here and there to leave you guessing on who really did the Murder. A lot of Nude and Sex Scenes, especially with Malin Akerman whose Boobs I felt showed up enough for them to deserve to be included in the Credits. At any rate, this is a Must-Watch Series on Netflix for me.
* Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023) Movie – Above Average, this is a Slasher-type Horror Movie about a Man who ended up working in an abandoned Restaurant somewhere in the United States (US) that had “Animatronics” or Life-like Robots based on Cartoon Characters that come to Life seemingly on their own. This Movie was a big Box Office success when it came out two Years ago and was all over the Entertainment News back then, good to finally see it on Netflix. The Movie does live up to the Hype, with some interesting Twists and Mysteries about the haunting. My only Complaint is that I sort of expected that the Origin and Nature of how the Animatronics were became alive to be in a more sophisticated or exotic Way than what was shown in the Movie. Nevertheless, this is a pretty good and entertaining Movie overall.
* Gantz: O (2016) 3D Animated Movie – Outstanding, this is a Japanese Production, Science Fiction (Sci-Fi)-Horror-Fantasy-Action Movie about People who are somehow being resurrected from the Dead by a mysterious Black Ball to fight Monsters in Japan. The three-Dimensional (3D) Animation is both beautiful and very realistic, although the Settings are mostly under Dark Tones. The Action Sequences are breathtakingly intense, while the Characterizations and Plot are pretty good. The World-building is very detailed and very well thought of since this is based on a Manga or Japanese Comicbook Series with its extensive set of Rules and Background Story.
Netflix had actually released this for some time already on their Platform, but I only “discovered” it recently after watching a Clip of one of the Scenes on a Social Media App. One of the best 3D animated Movies that I have seen in Years, and it is so good that I might rewatch it again later. There are a couple of slow Spots, but that is made up for by the outstanding End Game Sequences. The Volume of the English Audio Dub was also a bit lower than in other Movies or Series on Netflix, hence not only did I had to increase the Volume, but I also had to turn on the English Subtitles to understand the Movie better.
* True Haunting (2025) Season One Documentary Series – Outstanding, this is Documentary Series produced by James Wan, who was Part of the Creative Team of some of the well-known recent Horror Movie Franchises such as “Saw”, “Insidious” and “Conjuring”. This Season only has two Stories divided into five Episodes, and it is pretty good since it combines both Interviews of the People involved and Dramatizations as well of what happened. From what I can tell, these Stories are considered by the Showrunners as “True Hauntings” because they involve multiple Witnesses and even some Audio and Video Evidences.
The First Story involves a haunting at a College Dormitory and the second one a haunting at a House on an exclusive Part of Salt Lake City in Utah. Both Stories are set in the United States (US). This Series is scary enough for me to watch it only during the Daylight Hours, I simply go and find something much less scary in the Evenings, LOL. A Must-watch, one of the better Series for this Month of October 2025.
* My Father, the BTK Killer (2025) Documentary Movie – Outstanding, this Documentary Movie is mainly about the Daughter of the Serial Killer in the United States (US) called “The BTK Killer”, but a good Portion of it also discusses the Killer himself, as to what happened, how he did the Murders, how he was found out and arrested, etc. “BTK” by the Way stands for “Bind, Torture, Kill” which was the Modus Operandi of the Killer whose real Name is "Dennis Rader".
What was so amazing about him is that he managed to secretly kill at least 10 People, but at the same time lived a pretty normal Life in the US, and as per his Daughter he was a pretty good Father also. He truly was a Real-Life “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” Character. I liked that they also interviewed a lof of the Survivors of the Victims, the Investigators, and even the News Anchors. And they also showed a lot of old Photos and Videos from that time. This is just one of the many, “Standard”, High-Quality Documentaries that Netflix is known for also, a very entertaining watch for me.
* 28 Years Later (2025) Movie – Outstanding, this was released earlier this Year in the Theaters and did so well that it is one of the Movies I was anticipating to be on Netflix, and I’m glad that its finally here. And it does live up to the Hype, creating new Twists that adds up to the World-building of the Movie Franchise. This is an Apocalyptic-Horror-Action-Thriller Movie about a Zombie Outbreak in the United Kingdom (UK) and how it affected the Lives of the People living there. It is Part of a very successful Movie Franchise that has the Number “28” in its Title, with the previous Movies being “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later” respectively.
The Characterizations are outstanding and the Action Sequences very intense and exciting. There is also a lot of Heart in the Movie, particularly about a Child’s love for his Mother. Some of the Scenes are also breathtakingly beautiful, like the one in a Field of Yellow Flowers, and that flickering Night Scene on the Pyramid of Human Skulls. A Must-See Movie for me, one of the Best Movies on Netflix this Year.
* Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia (2025) Series – One of the usual “Standard” Outstanding Documentary on Netflix, this one about how various Officials and Personalities in the City of Philadelphia in the United States (US) waged a War against the Mafia in the 1990s, when the Crime Organization was at its Height of Power. Those opposing the Mafia eventually won, of course, and it is told by the People themselves who were involved in it. They are all now old and with White Hair, but their Stories live on. This was so good and compelling that I finished it one Night, three Episodes of around 45 minutes each, I just couldn’t stop watching it.
* She Walks in Darkness (2025) Movie – Outstanding, this is a Spanish Production, Spy Thriller Movie about a Woman Officer of the “Guardia Civil” or Civil Guard, one of the main Law Enforcement Organizations in Spain, who infiltrates the “Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA)” Terrorist Organization in the 1990s and 2000s. This is based on Real Life, I suspect it is based on a Number of Real Spies which they just weaved into one Story. The Characterization is just Mediocre, but that is more than made up for the Fact that it is very effective as a Thriller, there are a lot of suspenseful Situations. I also liked the “SpyCraft” or Espionage Techniques that they showed all throughout the Movie. Another Must-Watch Movie for me.
* A House of Dynamite (2025) Movie – Outstanding, I have watched so many good Movies this Month on Netflix, and this is just one of them. This is a War-Thriller about a Nuclear-armed, Inter Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) of unknown origin which was discovered to be on its Way to the United States (US), as seen from the Perspective of three Groups of People in the US Government. This is directed by the Kathyryn Bigelow who is known for excellent, suspenseful Movies like “The Hurt Locker” or “Zero Dark Thirty”.
And this Movie does have a lot of suspense as the Missile only had around thirty minutes before it reached the US Mainland, so a lot of Things had to be done and they did happen fast. I initially didn’t like the ending, but Clues in the Movie and even the Title itself gives away what really happened afterwards, which I think is that the President eventually chose "Option MA7" or "MA9" as suggested to him. The Movie had an All-Star Cast led by Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris and Jason Clarke among the most recognizable. A Must Watch for me, guaranteed to be a pretty memorable Movie.
* The Elixir (2025) Movie – Outstanding, this is an Indonesian Production, Zombie-Horror-Thriller Movie about a Zombie Outbreak in small, Rural Town in Indonesia. What makes this Movie work for me are the Suspenseful Situation that the Characters in the Movie had to go thru during the Outbreak. The Pacing and Tone of these were just about right, not overdone as it could’ve easily happened in Movies like this. This to me is to Indonesia what the Movie with the same Theme, “A Train to Busan” did for South Korea. I also liked the unique, Rural Indonesian touch of the Setting like the Wooden Houses, the Manual Water Pump inside some of the Houses, or the open backed Truck carrying Passengers that served as a Bus, etc. One of the Best Movies of this Month of October on Netflix, a Must-See Movie and a great addition to the Collection of outstanding Zombie Movies.
* A Ballad of a Small Player (2025) Movie – Above Average, this is a Black Comedy-Drama about an Englishman who is also a Scammer and a Gambling Addict now seemingly about to lose all of his Luck, but still looking for some big Wins in the Baccarat Tables of the Casinos of Macau and Hong Kong. Colin Farrell excellently played the Lead Role, you feel sorry for him at times, and then realize that as a Gambler, he maybe beyond redemption. There are some slow Parts in the Movie, which is the only Reason why I didn’t give it the Outstanding Rating. However, those slow Parts later turned out to be important for the Big Twist that came near the End of the Movie that I basically just didn’t see coming, I thought the Twist would be something else.
If you’re not Patient enough to go through those slow Parts, you may end up missing the outstanding Ending. I also liked the brooding Cinematography of the Film which helped a lot in setting the Mood of it being a Dark Comedy, and I loved the contrasting Scenes showing on one Hand the Glamorous and Extravagant Parts of Macau and Hong Kong, and then only to show some of their seedier or more “Average” Parts of those Countries as well. This is based on a successful Novel, by the Way, which is one Reason why it ended up being quite good.
