My Watchable to Best Series and Movies on Netflix for the Month of May 2026

Here are the what I think are the "at least watchable" to the Best Series and Movies that I watched on Netflix for the Month of May 2026:

* Countdown: Rousey versus Carano (2026) Netflix Original Documentary – Outstanding, this is the Pre-Fight Special of the upcoming Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Match between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. Both are Legends in the Sport, and haven’t fought a Professional Fight in a long time. They are also coming off losses from their last Fights, and of course are now Way over their Prime. But this will still be an anticipated Match because of the Stature of both Fighters.

Uma Thurman narrated this Documentary, she does all of the Pre-Fight Shows for Women Fights on Netflix. I like that they told Things as they are, they didn’t gloss over the very bad losses that these two Fighters had in their last Fights. I also liked it when they discussed the Backgrounds of both Fighters, on how they started in the Sport, although there weren’t a lot of that. Anyway, looking forward to the actual Fight itself soon.

* Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) Movie – Above Average, this is a Comedy-Horror-Fantasy Film that is a direct Sequel to the “Beetlejuice” Movie that was released back in 1988. This is about a Trickster Demon who ended up haunting a Woman who can see Ghosts, and her Family. The Special Effects Technology definitely is a lot better now compared to that of the first Film which was released almost four Decades ago now, and that has allowed the Movie’s Creator Tim Burton to have a lot more Artistic Freedom to depict the Afterlife. The Movie’s Highlight is definitely the Wedding Scene near the End of the Movie which ended up as a Musical Number done to the Tune of “McArthur’s Park” which was absolutely hilarious.

However, I did notice some Holes in the Plot, and while the Wedding Scene was great, it did feel a little bit too long and drawn out. I’m also not sure if the “Weirdness” of the Characters and World that Burton created is for Everyone, even me who should be used to these Types of Things found it a little bit over the Top at times, hence the Reason why I’m not rating this Movie as “Outstanding”. But definitely still quite entertaining to watch for me.

* The Wild Robot (2024) Animated Movie – Above Average, this is a Science Fiction-Adventure-Survival Movie about a highly advanced Robot who was stranded in a Jungle Environment and thus have to adjust living in it. I saw a Trailer of this a couple of Years ago and liked the Plot, but almost forgot about it since it took so long to finally be on Netflix. I like the Pacing which is just fast enough, and the Storytelling and Characterizations are top Notch, and of course the Computer Generated Image (CGI) Animation was outstandingly good. Lupita N’yongo was surprisingly great as the amiable Robot.

About the only Reservations I have about it is that it has a bit too many Storylines which I thought made the Movie too long, perhaps this should’ve been better off as a Series. The Main Themes and Thrust of the Movie seems a little bit too "Kidsy" for me, they focused a lot on Conflict Resolution, getting along with each other, etc. I think this is a bit of a move for DreamWorks as I felt they tended to be a bit more Adult in their Humor and Story lines in their previous Movies. But this is a great Watch, especially for those who are Young at Heart.

* Marty: Life is Short (2026) Netflix Original Documentary Movie – Above Average, this is a look back on the Life one of the most Iconic Comedians starting from around the 1980s, Martin Short. It turns out that for a long time he shot of Home Videos even back then, a lot of which were shown in this Movie probably for the very first time. Aside from his Background and Career, we also get a good look at the loving relationship he had with his late Wife which lasted for three Decades before she passed away in the 2010s. There’s also their beautiful Riverside Home which they hosted a lot of Parties with their A-List Friends, notably Tom Hanks and his Wife Rita Wilson, and Steven Spielberg and his Wife Kate Capshaw, among many Others. If you are a Gen Xer, or if you are Fan of the 1980s, then you will like this Movie as I did. It does have a bit of a slow Start in the first Quarter of the Film, but takes off after that, and that is the only Reason why I am not giving this an “Outstanding” Rating.

* Remarkably Bright Creatures (2026) Netflix Original Movie – Outstanding, one of the Best Movies on Netflix for me not only this Month of May 2026, but for the entire Year so far. This is a lighthearted Drama about an Octopus in a Public Aquarium and its relations with the Cleaning Lady and a Stranger who comes into Town. This is classic Sally Field where she again gets to show her acting Chops as a sad but sometimes spunky old Cleaning Lady. For me, this is one of her Best Work, which is saying a lot since she had been in a lot of great Movies. The Script is very smart, the Plot, Storytelling, Characters, etc. goes off firing on all Cylinders, and it has everything: Life, Lost, Grief, even a little bit of Comedy, almost never a Dull Moment on Screen. It even has around two Mysteries, which was tied up pretty well by the ending. The Octopus, voiced by Alfred Molina, doesn’t really figure as much as the Trailers show, it is all mainly about Field and Lewis Pullman’s Characters. The Octopus though plays a crucial Role in Terms of solving the Mysteries, putting all together what was told to him and figuring Things out. It, along with the Humans, are the “Remarkably Bright Creatures” in the Film.

* Roussey vs. Carano (2026) Netflix Original Sports Event – Outstanding, this is the very first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Fight Event streamed by Netflix, and the Main Card is between MMA Legends Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, both of whom had been retired for some time but is making a Comeback in this Fight. The Bout ended a little bit too fast, but at least it was Decisive and with Rousey finishing it with her classic Arm Bar Move. The four other Fights in the Undercard were equally impressive, except for the one between Nate Diaz and Mike Perry which I thought should’ve been stopped much earlier by the Referee, when the Blood from a Cut on Diaz’s Head started coming out too much. Francis Ngannou, Salahdine Parnasse and Robelis Despaigne were impressive with the Knock Out wins in their Matches, and I think we will see more MMA Events with Ngannou on Netflix because he was hinting at it in one of his After-Fight Interviews, probably against Despaigne who was calling himout after his Victory. Overall a great Event on Netflix, hoping to see more of this in the near Future.

* The Crash (2026) Netflix Original Documentary Movie – Outstanding, this is about a young Woman in the United States (US) who crashed the Car that she was driving into a Wall, killing her Boyfriend and a Friend. This is probably one of the saddest Documentaries I have seen because the Lives of three very young People practically ended because of this Tragedy. Two were dead, and the Girl will spend the Prime of her Life in Prison. I think it’s clear that she is guilty, she couldn’t give a good Answer as to why it happened, she probably did it in a fit of Madness and Jealousy, a Mistake of the Young. But the Problem is that her Mistake killed two People. She seemed truly remorseful based on the Footages during the Trial, but it is what it is.

* The Boroughs (2026) Season One Netflix Original Series – Outstanding, I highly anticipated this Series because it is one of the rare, big Budget Science Fiction (SciFi) Series on Netflix. This is made by the Duffer Brothers, the same Creative Team behind the “Stranger Things” Series. This is a SciFi-Horror Series about a Group of Elderly People who encountered a Sinister and Supernatural Presence in their Nursing Home Community. The Cinematography and overall Theme of the Series reminded me a lot of something that Steven Spielberg would make, and this is probably intentional as a Tribute by the Duffer Brothers to Spielberg.

The Series starts out a bit slow, but the interesting Characters and Plot Twists eventually carried Things through, along with some nice scares also. Alfred Molina is as expected excellent in the role of a sad, surly but technically-inclined Patient in the Community, as are Geena Davis and the rest of the Main Cast. For me this is one Series that lived up to Expectations, and a very welcome addition to the Netflix Catalogue after the recent End of the “Stranger Things” Series.

* The Four Seasons (2026) Season Two Netflix Original Series – Outstanding, this is a Comedy-Drama about four Couples who go on Vacation together every Season of the Year, and is fast turning out to be one of Netflix’s Best Series as of now. The Humor is the pretty good, and so is the Chemistry among the Cast Members which is one of the main Reasons that make this such a good Series. The Topics mainly deal with Life, Love, Friendships and whatever else that deals with Relationships. The Premise of this Show is based on a Movie by Alan Alda, and it is good that they were able to sneak him into a Cameo at one of the Episodes. Steve Carell, a Mainstay of Season One until he unexpectedly got killed off at that End of that Season, makes a comeback this Season during a Lookback Episode. The Reviews and Ratings of this Series seems to be mainly good so far, so I am hoping to see several more Seasons of this on Netflix
