Wonder Woman 1984 Poster by DC Films |
First of all, I thought the Production Company should’ve allowed more streaming options for the Movie. By not doing so, they deprived People who would’ve been willing to pay to watch it the option to do so.
Hence indirectly or unintentionally they ended up promoting piracy of the Movie instead. They lost some potential Revenue there.
As for the Movie itself, let’s start with the Bad News, I thought its weakest point was what to do with Maxwell Lord’s “Wishing Power”. Why did he want so many wishes? What was his End Game with that?
That Part I had trouble understanding, and it looked like they didn’t have a firm grasp of that idea, and the presentation was inelegant and confusing.
Also Wonder Woman only fought ordinary Humans most of the time, there were no Army of Aliens/Monsters/Interdimensional Beings/Etc. to contend with.
Now for the Good News, despite the lack of proper Villains or Enemies, I thought the Action Scenes were wonderful and majestic. They did a lot of Wire Work there, even the Mall Scene against ordinary Thugs I found to be breathtaking because of all that Air Time.
The Movie’s Opening Scene that is the Competition on Themyscira was pretty good, and one of the highlights of the Film. And there are alsoi other highlights, like the “Invisible Jet” going thru the Fireworks, or Diana’s First Flight in the Clouds which reminded me a lot of the Superman Movie Scene of him also flying thru the Clouds.
And that Flying Scene was even made more meaningful and impactful as it came after a critical point in the Movie which I will not say what. The Storytelling and Characterizations I thought was outstanding, very smooth, easy to understand and almost effortless.
That is until they hit that Speed Bump on what really to do with Maxwell Lord. And the Cameo at the End Credits was what I thought every Wonder Woman Fan has been waiting for.
Overall I would say the first Wonder Woman (2017) Film was better, but not by much. Despite its flaws, I still found Wonder Woman 1984 to be still enjoyable and entertaining. Highly recommended.
